The musical lineup for the BeachLife Festival, the South Bay’s biggest beach party has been announced, and the celebration of beach culture will include reggae, rock, funky tunes and even a set of Queen songs.

The Steve Miller Band, Counting Crows, and Ziggy and Stephen Marley, who will be performing Bob Marley tunes in celebration of their father’s 75th birthday, will join previously announcedacts including Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals, Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real and G. Love & Special Sauce for the May 1-3 BeachLife Festival concert at Redondo Beach’s Seaside Lagoon.

Also joining the lineup for the second year of the festival are UB40 featuring Ali Campbell and Astro, Fitz and the Tantrums, Live, Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros and War. There will be a repeat performance of the SideStage, a 50-seat, sit-down restaurant run by chef and restaurateur David LeFevre (MB Post, Fishing With Dynamite, The Arthur J). LeFevre will lead a team of California-based chefs who will create band-inspired menus served during main stage sets. A full lineup of SideStage chefs will be announced in February.

New to BeachLife this year will be the SpeakEasy stage, which will feature acoustic performances by punk music trailblazers from the South Bay’s punk scene. A lineup for the SpeakEasy stage will be announced later.

The festival was founded by local entrepreneur Allen Sanford and business partner Rob Lissner. It made its debut last year with 40 musical acts over three days on a 8.6-acre plot of seaside land that included three stages. The festival attracted about 12,000 people each day.
